Lauren "NoVote" Boebert Attempts to Silence Critics

Lauren "NoVote" Boebert

Little known Republican United States House Candidate Lauren Boebert (Colo.) is learning a valuable lesson in Colorado anti-SLAPP litigation after her failed attempt to silence critic and editor of Feeling Cute Newz, self-proclaimed "candidate for everything" Joseph A. Camp.

Embedded in the electoral process, Camp has gone full fledge candidate for United States President, United States Senate, and United States House of Representatives with the stated intent of exposing the "stupid processes, policies, office holders and candidates". He doesn't just lampoon gun touting right wing lunatics like Boebert, but instead "no stupid authority figure is off the table" according to Camp's Campaign website.

Sadly, the single issue candidate Boebert doesn't have much comprehension or educated staff around her to understand issues beyond her radical positions on the Second Amendment and her seemingly hatred of Mexicans and shot her shot when she failed to silence Camp.
It does not matter what the nature of the litigation is, or what vehicle was used to bring the action, a SLAPP suit is a SLAPP suit is a violation of Free Expression, and we will defend or prosecute the actions needed to ensure that (Camp's) rights are fully protected.
Colorado's "anti-SLAPP's Special Motions to Dismiss was designed for exactly this reason, to defend against frivolous lawsuits seeking to silence protected First Amendment Expression" Camp's attorney told Feeling Cute Newz that no process has been served and thus they cannot comment further unless or until such time that Camp is served with actual lawsuit documents. "it does not matter what the nature of the litigation is, or what vehicle was used to bring the action" the attorney stated, "a SLAPP suit is a SLAPP suit is a violation of Free Expression, and we will defend or prosecute the actions needed to ensure that (Camp's) rights are fully protected."
I believe they are seeking $250,000 in attorney fees alone -costs and emotional distress, damages not included.
Feeling Cute Newz has heard from a campaign staffer of Camp's, who wishes to remain anonymous, that Camp and his legal team are preparing to seek the highest dollar amount of sanctions and attorney fees ever issued in an anti-SLAPP case in Colorado's short history of anti-SLAPP laws being on the books. "I believe they are seeking $250,000 in attorney fees alone -costs and emotional distress, damages not included. If for some reason the Motion is denied Camp's team will immediately appeal pursuant to the same statute. Resolution will not be had for many years. His team of counsel are some of the nations top First Amendment attorneys as well as journalist societies and associations filing amicus in support of Camp."

Calls for comment to Boebert's Campaign and her registered agent were not returned.
